Using a VL53L5CX with a mirror

I am in the very early stages of thinking about a project, and wanted some input. My Heathkit 2000 robot rotates an inclined mirror to take light and ultrasonic distance measurements every 15 degrees around its perimeter. Is it possible to direct the VL53L5CX’s Field of View using a mirror?

Thanks

hmmm…it might be worth a shot. It uses infrared, most of which is reflected by mirror surfaces…I’d just be worried about the interference from the glass

I’m not sure if reversing the Tx/Rx positions relative to the object being detected will appreciably change the readings or not

OK thanks

To follow up, with the VL53L5CX being back ordered, do you think the VL53L1X can be used to get me started? Am I correct in thinking the difference is the VL53L5CX is a 16 or 64 Voxel sensor while the VL53L1X is a single Voxel sensor?

Thanks
