Using FemtoBuck Constant Current LED Driver as simple light source

Hello to all,

I’m completely new to this forum so i hope i enter my question in the right place.

I’ve a question for the FemtoBuck driver. I’ve several Cree Power LEDs that i want to use for make light poles on my campsite for illuminating a gravel path.

This lighting system will be driven at low current (much saver and easy to make). I think that i will use the jumper for 660 mA. Each light pole will probably contain 2 or maybe 3 PowerLeds that i will connect in series.

I do NOT have a Arduino and don’t need one either.

Is it possible to use the femtobuck with only the external power supply and NO connection to an Arduino? I don’t need any dimming capabilities or whatever. Or what has to change to simply connect the board on the external power supply and obtain the fixed current of 660 mA?

Also i would like to know if the femtobuck can be connected with only a power soucre and no power input at the “dimming-connection”. I don’t need the dimming and it seems to me from the information that if the Control-connection isn’t connected at all the femtobuck will be always set to maximum current output.

Thanks already for your help.

Ron

PS i’ve posted this also in miscellaneous but didn’t get any responses up till now so maybe it was in the wrong section.

Hi Ron.

All you would need to do is connect your power source to the V- and V+ pads, your LED to the LED+ and LED- pins and then close the jumper on the board to set 660mA and you’re all good! When you leave the CTRL pin disconnected, the FemtoBuck defaults to full power.
