I would like work with UWB radio in my project. I cannot find any commercially available transmitters/receivers, but I guess there will be some out there.
I could try to design my own, but I would be too much time. Do you know who makes them? It is to measure distance between two points, so high transmission rate is not needed.
Some vendors of “wireless USB” use UWB. Belkin and some other tried to sell these, but it was a flop. It was intended to be a cable replacement for all peripherals. There’s another such initiative now- not using UWB, but I can’t recall the popular name of it.
In the professional world, Ubisense and TimeDomain are two companies I know of/have worked with for UWB.
But IMO, UWB for consumers/hobbyists is not useful, due to the super low power required by the FCC.
