Forgive me if this has been discussed, or mentioned before. I am making up some custom footprints, some of which are through hole devices. The question I have is how much larger does the drill hole need to be then the size of the pin or lead? For example if a lead has a diameter of 0.79", what diameter should the drill hole be?
From what I know it should be at least 10 mils bigger. 1 mil is equal too .001 inch.
so your .79 inch diameter lead should be .8 inch.
edit: scroll down a few posts and you’ll see I asked the same question. heres the link: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=22258
