Water Heater Thermistor for Wood Heat

I am in the process of hooking up my LP Gas water heater (power vent) to my outdoor wood boiler. I am wondering if it is possible to use the built in thermistor with a PID Microcontroller and the water heater. I would like to use the thermistor and microcontroller to turn a pump on at 110 degrees and cycle water from the boiler and then also leave the water heater on, so that if the boiler couldn’t keep up the gas would kick in at 105 degrees.

In the end I need to know if I can run 2 controllers from 1 thermistor…my guess is no, but thought I’d ask.

Also if anyone else has any suggestions, I’d love to hear them!

Thanks!

I'm not sure what it is you're trying to do, I'm having a brain freeze ATM, but to answer the question above ... sure you can, why not ? The thermistor is just a source of temp info. Multiple controllers could use the same info for differing uses.

Maybe tomorrow I’ll have 2 neurons working to better answer your larger question, but I suspect someone else might have beat me to it by then.
