Whoops - Reversed Voltage on Mega

I blew it, I accidentally applied around 8 V to ground and the ground to the Vin on a Mega. After a beautiful cloud of smoke it looks like I blew some sort of capacitor. From the schematic I think it is C13. It is kind of a yellow component. From USB power the board seems to work fine. Two things I was hoping someone could help me with - I’m VERY new to the arduino and electronics.

  1. Can someone point me to a specific part number to replace the blown capacitor? If I look on Digikey I am overwhelmed with the options available.

  2. Would anything else have been damaged?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

C13 is a 100nF ceramic cap. Very unlikely that you blew it. C6 (100uF) or IC4 (MC33269D-5.0) or IC5 (MC33269ST-5.0T3) are more likely victims. Note that either IC4 or IC5 (but not both) are loaded on the board.

Yup, that was it, C6. I got a replacement from Digikey today. It is a lot of work to figure out replacement parts though. Thanks for your help.
