Will This Work?

I am starting a project based on the TMS470R1A256 micro. I have been working with another ARM7 variant, the STR710, for over a year now on another project, so I already own a licensed copy of the IAR EWARM IDE and a J-Link USB JTAG box.

I am considering the purchase of the [Olimex development board that Sparkfun sells. From what I have read in this forum, it sounds like the IAR toolchain and J-Link USB JTAG I already own will work with this board, but I wanted to try to get confirmation on that before placing my order.

Hence my question: can I use my existing IAR Embedded Workbench and J-Link USB JTAG debugger with the Olimex development board?

Thanks very much for your help!](http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=546)

Hi

IAR sells a kick start kit for this processor - http://www.iar.com/index.php?show=5256_ … n=5256_ENG

Therefore IAR will certainly work with it. Even if the version of EWARM doesn’t include a BSP for it, you can always download the kick start version and use them from there with your licensed one.

Just a quick follow-up to let everyone know that I ordered the board and so far it’s working just fine with IAR and the JLink USB JTAG interface. I compiled and ran a sample project right “out of the box” with no changes whatsoever.
