witilt 3 charging and connection problem

Hi, I just bought Witilt 3.0 to use it for my final year project.

I really need your help on certain issues.

A) Charging issue

  1. How do I charge Witilt 3.0?

  2. I did not buy the charger but i know that Witilt 3.0 has a built in charger. How do i use that to charge my battery?

  3. What is the maximum current rating that the charger can withstand?

  4. How long should i charge my witilt?

B) Pairing and connection

  1. How do i pair with Witilt 3.0 with my computer?

  2. I use bluesoleil to pair my computer with Witilt, it paired but it could not create a virtual serial port? What is the problem? Is it the bluetooth dongle problem? or the software problem? or Witilt problem?

  3. After connection, how do i bring up the configuration menu?

Please help me…thanks

I think they use MCP73843’s for the WiTilt v3.0 and from the charger IC datasheet it says it requires

4.5 - 12V and it will only use as much current as it needs (probably about 1amp) and built in timers will

turn it off when it’s finnished charging…

(Please don’t blame me, if you set free, the pretty blue smoke… )

Most likely a software issue... Have you been able to install the Bluesoleil drivers without problems?

After connection, how do i bring up the configuration menu?

I haven't got a clue...](http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/21823c.pdf)](http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/DS21699B.pdf)

can i use a usb connector to jst…to charge my witilt? the voltage is 5 V and the maximum current output is 500mA

Probably not because the actual maximum current for an unknown USB device is only 100ma, so with a the

WiTilt fast charge current of around 1Amp (most Likely) it may not charge at all… :frowning: (or ten times as slow… )

can i use a wall adapter with 450mA and 4.9 V ? what is the minimum current needed for the charger circuit to work?

That would most likely work fine (as long as it's DC), you just won't get to do a fast charge. (for the best, not sure

how many fast charge cycles the Sparkfun Li-ion batteries can handle before they lose noticeable capacity… )

thanks ya…hope if i need ur help again, i will tell you

I bought a power adapter with 5 v and 1.5 A rating,will it work?

Yup, as long as it outputs DC and is reasonably well regulated.
