WM8960 accepting a true differential MEMS microphone (not pseudo)

Hello,

I am playing with some MEMS differential microphones, and I’d really like to keep them as a differential input to the WM8960, as opposed to grounding the negative input, and making it pseudo differential. I have read the Wolfson WM8960 Stereo CODEC datasheet, and on page 24, I find that again for a differential microphone they go to a Pseudo-differential configuration. Is there a reason why no one is using true differential input with this IC?

I have downloaded Example 14: Electret Mic. If I use this as a starting point which parts of the code need modifying to run in differential mode?

Any feedback would be appreciated,

Thanks

Rob

Please post a link the MEMS differential microphone product page or data sheet. The WM8960 datasheet describes the connections for differential input.

Not a good idea for the microphone, if that is what you meant. See: https://seltech-intl.com/knowles/microphone%20mems/application%20notes/AN-10%20Using%20Differential%20Microphones%20in%20a%20Single-Ended%20Configuration.pdf

This seems obvious. But yet I see no mention of this approach being taken. Why not? Will this IC have an issue, that I’m unaware of?
