2D Barcode Scanner Breakout

Hello,

I have a question about this scanner. Is it possible to get the output not in numbers or letters but in white-black stripes?

Furthermore is it possible to scan only parts of a barcode?

For example is there a way to scan the left side and the right side of the code when there is something in the way that is partially blocking the laser.

Best regards

Thomas Belli

I think all the features and possible output types are explained in the hookup guide: 2D Barcode Scanner Breakout Hookup Guide - SparkFun Learn

Sadly, no for both questions.

I’d encountered some old barcode scanners (and even wands that didn’t ‘scan’) early in my career that were undecoded. They had light source and detector and probably some other amplification and stuff but I think they were analog only. They just sent pulses to an outboard barcode decoder that would interpret the pulse timing and make available for data collection. Of course, we today take for granted these being built into the barcode reading device and having some sort of digital data out.

So maybe you can find an old one?
