3.3V power on GPS-RTK-SMA

For the GPS-RTK-SMA board, I want to connect to both the USB and QWIIC i2c interfaces.

The QWIIC connector provides 3.3V to the board, and looking at the schematic, it appears that 3.3V is also derived from the USB 5V power line.

These two 3.3V lines seem to be directly connected on the board.

Is it safe to connect to both these interfaces at the same time?

Thanks!

Hi John (@jalsop ),

Strictly, it’s best avoided - if possible. You could break the 3.3V (Red) wire in the Qwiic connection to isolate the power feed, and I2C will still work.

But, we routinely have two 3.3V sources connected at the same time while we are testing or developing code for these boards. It’s never been a problem.

Best wishes,
Paul
