Is there possibility to connect 5V and 3.3V devices in one QWIIC network?

Hi,

Is there possibility to connect 5V and 3.3V devices in one QWIIC network?

Let’s say I’ve BH1750 connected like that:

Does it mean that +5V is present on QWIIC right now instead of 3.3V?

It’s crucial to me, because I want to connect ICM-20948 9DoF over QWIIC and this module is working on 3.3V.

Most Qwiic devices are not 5 volt tolerant, if you want to connect a 5 volt device to a Qwiic network, you will need a[ level shifter like the PCA9306 to isolate the 5 volt devices from the 3.3 volt ones.](https://www.sparkfun.com/products/15439)

In case sensor board is supporting +5VDC, can I connect +5VDC to QWIIC connector, right?

Yes, as long as you keep the 5 volt board on the 5 volt side of your I2C bus, you’re OK.

Just be super careful to not plug in a 3.3 volt Qwiic board into the one that has 5 volt power or you will kill the 3.3 volt board.

Ok, that is clear to me:) Thx for answers!
