Hello,
I was wondering a few things about the RPLIDAR A2M8 sensor. after looking through the documents I was a bit confused about some of the cable/power aspects of the sensor it seemed like it came with a power bank that can be plugged into an external power source but it looks like from the cables that it can also be powered from USB. However the startup current is 1200 mA but I think a USB can only supply 900 mA (USB 3.0). So my questions are:
-
Can the sensor be strictly powered from USB?
-
What cables are included and what are their lengths?
-
What adapters are included?
I looked through the documents but I would like to clarify these things. Thank you!
SparkFun doesn’t make these, we just resell them so I have limited information but here’s what it looks like to me:
- Can the sensor be strictly powered from USB?
Probably not. In fact I don't think it can be powered from USB at all, that's likely just for data.
- What cables are included and what are their lengths?
The cable on the RPLIDAR itself looks to be about 12" long, the USB cable looks like it's 6". Not sure about the power supply, but it's probably 2' or 3'.
- What adapters are included?
Looks like just the north America plug adapter.
Also, these don’t come with a power bank but they do come with an interface board that allows you to connect them to USB. That doubles as the place where you connect the power supply.
