Adding screw terminals to board design

How do I add a “package” such as a screw terminal from the Sparkfun library to a schematic in Eagle?

When I click “add” in the schematic window I only see the “devices”, not the “packages” from the Sparkfun library. I can add devices without any problem, but there’s no apparent way to add a package.

If I also open a board window, the packages appear in the list if I click “add” in that board window, or if if expand the library in the control panel. But if I try to add the screw terminal, it tries to add it to the board, not to the schematic, and I get an error message saying that I can’t do that because it can’t be back-annotated.

I eventually managed to add the package to the board by closing the schematic window, but of course that didn’t also add it to the schematic, and I got error messages when I tried to route to the terminal’s pads.

It MUST be possible to add those screw terminals to board designs, right? I’d think that would be why they’re included in the library. What am I missing here?

AHA! Got it!

There’s an equivalent device under “MO-2 Header 2” up in the list that DOES appear when you try to add in a schematic window. That one works just fine.

Apparently the “SCREWTERMINAL” package is just there to tease us.

I know you had this answered over on the arduino.cc forums, but you should be adding parts to a schematic, not devices or packages.

Yeah, I eventually got that message, but since what I wanted to add was a two-position screw terminal, and the only one I saw was the package, I was sure that was what I needed to add.

Big learning day for me, thanks to all the folks who answered.
