Adjusting MCP73831 charging current on the Artemis OpenLog

Is it possible to adjust the LiPo charging current on the MCP73831 with software to make it safe for a battery smaller than 450mAh? I see there is a 2.2kOhm R4 tied to pin 5. I really don’t want to try to replace that tiny little component with a 10kOhm unless that is the only way.

"Please make sure your battery capacity is at least 450mAh (0.45Ah); bad things will happen if you try to charge our smallest batteries at 450mA. "

Unfortunately that’s the only way to change the charge current, swapping the 2.2K resistor for a 10K resistor would change the charge current to 100mA though.
