ADXRS Gyro on a 3v3 mcu

Hi guys!

Probably it’s a stupid question… but, how can i connect an ADXRS150 gyro to a system running on 3v3. I’m using an LPC2138 and the gyro needs 5V. The thing is that i don’t want to use an external ADC. Is it possible to do some voltage dividing or something else ?

Please help.

Thank you in advance,

James

Simply use an level shifter, which converts the logic levels.

The datasheet tells you how to bias and scale the output with a few resistors, so just bias the 2.5 volt null reading down to 1.5 volts, and reduce the scale so that the max level is below 3.3. volts.

However, it’s much easier just to buy a 3.3V gyro that matches the voltages in the rest of you system ( like the 3.3V IDG300 gyro that sparkfun sells)
