What about an AM/FM/SW radio breakout board?
Silicon Labs [Si4735 is a complete AM/FM stereo/shortwave/longwave radio receiver with analog and digital audio outputs. It is a software-defined radio (SDR) and has RF amp, PLL, A/D, DSP, D/A etc. with I2C interface. Microsoft Zune uses Si470x series. It looks like a neat chip, time for pirate radio Covers 64-108MHz, 153-279kHz, 520-1710kHz, 2.3-21.85MHz bands. North American Radio Broadcast Data System (RBDS) too; the Si4737 enables broadcast data such as station identification and song name to be displayed to the user.
20 pin QFN 3mmX3mm package, too small for manual placement.
I saw the Si4735 in Elektor magazine 02-2010 project and it looked great, very simple hardware- a 3.3V reg, LC antenna, a few caps and a 32kHz clock input.](Infrastructure and Automotive - Divested Products - Silicon Labs)
