I am from the UK and have had my GM862 for about 2 years. It sat around doing nothing until a little while ago when I finally got the time to use it. So I coded it and put it in the car and everything was all fine for about 6 months. I was using Vodafone and never had any trouble accessing the internet until one day the module just stopped updating. It works with other networks - Orange, Tmobile have both been tested and work flawlessly. It just doesn’t work on Vodafone any more. I called them up and they claim that there is no block and nothing to stop it, but it just refuses to work. Even if I use RSTerm on TMobile I see the code of the web page returned but on Vodafone it just hangs at Connect for ages then returns No Carrier without the web page html.
I don’t understand what the issue could be. Has anyone else had any similar problem, or anyone in the UK North that wouldn’t mind meeting and letting me test my sim card in their device, as I am positively convinced vodafone have blocked my GM862.
Sim card works in a phone absolutely fine. Device works with any sim card not on Vodafone. All 3 Voda sim cards I’ve tried have failed. Vodafone assure me they haven’t blocked the device, which I do believe because I can still have the GM862 make phone calls and send sms messages. It’s just the internet that doesn’t work.
Very strange! I thought that they might have a bug in their system that has identified your GM862 as a stolen phone via the IMEI code, and disabled it because of that, but that doesn’t explain why it works OK apart from accessing the Internet.
It is very strange. I’ve talked to a few customer service/tech help people and they all just say there is no reason for it not to work. With them I have confirmed I am using all of the correct APN settings so that’s also not the issue. Guess my only other option is to move it to another network.
