GM862 sim card problem

I am using an evaultion usb gm862 board and the gm862 gps module. i have check AT and put the band to 0 (europe) but when i put my 02 sim card into the module and perform the AT+CPIN? it comes up with error ,aslo says sim car isn’t inserted when it is?

do i have to do this: Setting up the serial port speed of the module (DCE) to 38400 bps:

AT+IPR=38400

before hand, because when i did my terminal came up with funny letters.

Try to post your problem on this website http://www.embed21.com/?p=66 , as it is dedicated to GM862. The man who writes in it, solved my problem with turning it on and getting it up running.

Make sure you are using an external power supply, and not just the USB power. The Telit modules needs 1.5-2A on startup. Having issues with SIM reading is a symptom of not having enough power, as are spotty/failed network registrations and rebooting of the module.
