I was just trying to follow the tutorial for creating a new Eagle symbol, but had to stop after adding the five pins. I was not able to name the pins by following the next step. It says to press F4, which I did, but that just zooms out.
I need to create several new symbols for parts such as the 18F4620, 18F4680, and 18F87J50 so I can create schematics for projects I am working on. Naturally, I will share any symbols I am able to create.

Did you install the scr file Sparkfun has at the top of the eagle tutorials? That is where the hotkeys are defined and you need it to use the keyboard shortcuts they mention in the tutorials. I don’t know about F4 in particular, but I have used other commands SFE added to their file and they worked fine.
Ah, OK. I did not start at the top of the tutorial. Perhaps there needs to be a note about this at the beginning of each segment. I am just interested in how to create a symbol right now since I need several before I can do some schematics.ttabbal:
