Artemis OLA logging slower than 1 Hz

When I set logging rate slower than 1 Hz I see two Null Characters are sent prior to the RTC Date and Time etc on every logged event. These Null characters do not appear when logging at 1Hz or faster. Is this unavoidable? I’m using Realterm as my serial terminal .

Hi John (@John_Stokes ),

With a logging interval of greater than two seconds, the OLA goes into deep sleep between measurements. The sleep/wake can cause ‘noise’ characters to appear on the serial lines. It’s unavoidable.

I think you can trick the OLA into staying awake by setting the “Minimum awake time between sleeps” to close to the logging interval. But this will of course drain the battery.

Main Menu option 1 Configure Terminal Output. Option 21 Minimum awake time.

We introduced this at version 1.11 of the firmware. If you don’t see that option, please update your firmware.

I hope this helps,
Paul

Hi Paul,
Okay thank you i inderstand. Ive only noted 2 Null characters between samples so these can be filtered out if its pnly these characters. The low power sleep betrween samples is a feature id like to retain but can dispense with it if it becomes a problem.

The Null characters are not visible in the logged data files on the sd memory card so im happy with that.
