AVR-PG2 Software support - How does it work with AVR Studio?

Stupid question I know, but it does not seem to be documented.

And I don’t know the answer.

I have the avr-pg2b parallel port programming dongle.

It is mentioned on the websites that free software from Atmel is used to program a target board with the avr-pg2b. Would that be AVR Studio?

If so, how do you use the parallel port, all the atmel programmers are serial (rs232)? Is it the parallel port/high voltage programming mode? I am wary of selecting any option that has “high voltage” in it. With out documentation.

geezz probably something everybody knows, but not written anywhere.

thanks

Hello,

Sorry about that - the listing is a bit outdated. Atmel pulled their parallel programmer support with the newer versions of AVR Studio :roll: .

Fortunately PonyProg2000 works with parallel interfaces.

Download the latest version here : http://www.lancos.com/prog.html.

Select Setup->Interface setup

Choose Parallel : Avr ISP I/O

Make sure you are powering your board as these dongle programmers need power from an external source.

That’s it! I’ll update the product listing…
