Bad description

This is a terrible description. Light bulbs don’t produce voltage.

Maybe it’s a magical lightbulb?
If so, I’ll take 100,000 of them please.

Good catch darellg !. It does not show whether it produces AC or DC voltage

It’s already been updated. That was fast.

My hopes and dreams of free energy have been dashed! Why SparkFun, why?

The new product post news page still has a ridiculous (and my guess, AI-generated) description that claims the socket produces power. It’s even worse than the product page so I’m posting it here again just for posterity (and giggles):

This unique component features a compact E10 mini bulb holder pre-fitted with a bulb, making it ready for immediate use in various low-power applications. Engineered for efficiency, it reliably delivers 1.5 volts of electricity. With a current output of 0.3 amps, this setup is ideal for small-scale electrical projects requiring minimal power.

The marketing folks and engineering folks need to communicate better.

Received the weekly Sparkfun mail today with the same text

Marketing indeed needs more attention…
