Beach Resort - Need IR Remote Copy Help

Hello,

I would like to purchase a few items to copy our last IR Remote at our resort here in Florida. The remote we need to copy is used to turn on and off a few hundred battery operated candles in the Bar & Market area. Unfortunately the company who manufactures the candles & remote, stopped manufacturing the remote and has none left in stock. I feel with these items (Below in list) I can use the remote that comes with the Control Kit and copy the single remote we have left at the property. Thus allowing me to make a few copies of the remote for more of our resorts and for some extras at each property. If anyone can confirm this list will get the job done, I’m sure I can figure out the rest. I really appreciate any input and I do apologize if I posted this in the wrong area, I have been reaching out to Spark Fun customer service for a few weeks with no reply. :? :frowning:

I am afraid this is not going to be that easy.

Although the remote is using InfraRed as a signal layer, the remotes send a unique code using the IR-layer. That code is understood by both the remote and the receiver (your candles). It will enable to have multiple remotes (e.g. for your TV or Radio) to transmit in the same room, but with only the correct device being controlled. Next to that there is the modulation rate and used protocol.

Even if you would know the unique code sent by the current remote, you can not reprogram the cheap remotes as the unique code is hardcoded.

Maybe it is easier (try for test) is to look at multi-function remote controllers that can be reprogrammed, like those that can be used for controlling your TV AND DVD AND Satalite AND etc. Some of them can store the unique code while the original remote is sends.

Not sure whether the original supplier can provide you with more information about the unique code, modulation rate (between 36Khz and 60Khz), and whether it is using the NEC protocol (assume so as that is nearly standard… but still).

A good document to read would be https://www.infineon.com/dgdl/RF2ir%20W … 16272c2e81

Amazing reply, thank you. I will get in contact with the original manufacture and see if I can get them to divulge some info to me. We do massive business with them so I am hoping they will be generous. Again, Much appreciated and have a happy and safe holiday!!
