Best materials or parts to emulate TQFP56 IC

I’d like to insert my own circuit board in place of a TQFP56 IC. So, instead of soldering a TQFP56 part onto the circuit board I want to solder a TQFP56 header and then mount my circuit onto the header.

These parts exist but the form factor is really clunky:

Are there better sources?

If BatchPCB can make the boards, it may be possible to create a board with the same rectangular area as a TQFP56 IC with a bunch of vias along the sides, threading AWG30 wire through the holes for use as the TQFP56 leads.

Any better ideas? Is this a new product?

I would either make a board that could be reflowed on with solder paste, LGA style, or make a board a bit smaller than the LGA that could be glued in the center area under the chip, with a ring of pads on the top side that could be bridged by hand.
