BlueSMiRF Version

Hi all,

I bought this SMiRF awhile ago. If I received the docs I can’t find them.

What I was able to find is that it look like the orginal version.

See the link below

http://www.lynxmotion.com/images/html/build125.htm

It has the blue a the top with the white ceramic ant. If you scroll down to step 5, it tells you the default baud rate. And step 9 states the default passkey.

So is it a Gold, Silver or I don’t know SMiRF? If it’s a real version 1, does anyone have the doc?

Thanks in advance…

J.

I don’t know what original version of Sparkfun’s BlueSMiRF Series you have, i remember it tho…

Sparkfun originally used modules from [BlueRadios (which used Mitsumi components) who were very

reluctant to give out command sets/appnotes, hence the change to a Roving Networks module…

The passkey is “default” with a baud rate of “9600” i think…

And i have found a command set summary [here.

Bit more [here.

Not great, but i hope it helps a bit, please report back if it does…](http://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/RF/BlueSMiRF_v1.pdf)](Bluetooth Modem — AsuroWiki)](Bluetooth Class1 SMD modules and wireless communication serial radio modem module certified to Bluetooth v2.0 from BlueRadios)

Your info was right on. I have verified I can connect to the SMiRF and by putting a loop on the TX/RX pins get data back from the remote side.

One question, I tried to connect the TX pin to a serial LCD. Verified the correct baud rate on it. I don’t get any data out from it. Do I need to invert the output from the SMiRF?

Thanks again for the info.

J.

It should work almost straight away… Make sure you’re not in command mode when sending data.

I have two files you might find interesting. So glad I saved these and found them again.
