I’m trying to create a custom key fob using low energy bluetooth under the HID profile to send keystrokes to the connected device.

This device pairs with your cellphone and acts as the shutter control to take remote pictures.
I’m looking to pair my device with a computer and use it in tandem with a macro application to automate tasks after each button is pressed.
I’m having trouble finding the right resources to start developing my circuit. I’m looking at the nrf8001 bluetooth IC as my starting module but I’m not locked into it if there’s something better.
Can anyone point me in the right direct? Any help is appreciated.
