I have been working on a project that logs nearby Bluetooth MAC addresses. Ultimately, these units will be placed near a roadside to find vehicles, cell phones, headsets, and other Bluetooth devices in cars.
The problem is that when I run the inquiry, the Bluetooth Mate Gold (http://www.sparkfun.com/products/9358) can only find other Bluetooth Mate Golds - it will not find my cell phone (Droid X, and Bluetooth is turned on) unless it is discoverable, or my Bluetooth headset (I’m guessing if I turned it to discoverable, it would find it).
Does anyone know if there is a way around making devices discoverable to be able to log the MAC addresses? I don’t want to make a connection to the devices, just see that they are there.
Thanks!
