Bluetooth silver mate not working with Arduino

Hey everyone!

So I’ve been prototyping a project with my Arduino Uno and [this bluetooth shield I got from itead studio. Everything has been working well so far. I’m able to connect my Android app to the bluetooth device and talk to my Arduino code. Now you can imagine how big this shield + Arduino can be. I’d like to make it smaller by using an Arduino Pro Mini (5V, 16Mhz) and a [Bluetooth Mate Silver.

I’ve moved it all over and kept the baud rate of 9600 that I was using on the previous bluetooth shield. But my problem is that the Android connects to the bluetooth device, but it doesn’t seem like the Arduino is getting any of the data off the serial port. I have a snippet of code that tells me when the Arduino starts to get data from the serial and it never seems to happen. I tried changing the baud rate to 115200 but that didn’t seem to fix anything. Is there anything else I can try? I’d really like to size this down. I can be more specific if this doesn’t make sense, too.
