Hello,
I have a device set up with a pro micro and would like to add bluetooth. Is there a cost effective breakout board that I can easily integrate into my current setup? I was thinking there would be something like the BlueSMiRF, but that appears to be discontinued. Other boards I looked at seem to have more function than I really need, such as their own micro controller. If I used one of the bluetooth capable boards instead of the pro-micro, I would have to overhaul everything so not my first choice.
Are bluetooth chips, like the RN-41 easy enough to breakout by myself?
Any suggestions welcome, thanks in advance!
Hello,
This [WRL-12577 seems to still be in stock. Also, WRL-12577 and WRL-12576 uses the [WRL-12574 module, so you could replicate our schematics and Eagle files to make board to accommodate your needs.](Bluetooth SMD Module - RN-42 (v6.15) - WRL-12574 - SparkFun Electronics)](https://www.sparkfun.com/products/12577)
Hello.
If you use the RN-41, you would need to provide some logic level correction and also figure out how to solder to it’s tiny pads. It’s doable, but might not be that easy.
We carry a breakout for the RN-41/42 called the [Bluetooth Mate Gold and [Bluetooth Mate Silver, but sadly they are currently out of stock and due to COVID-19, I don’t have an estimate for when they will be back in stock.
If you can locate a HC-05 or HC-06 bluetooth breakout, those might work for you if you don’t want to try and solder to the RN-41.](SparkFun Bluetooth Mate Silver - WRL-12576 - SparkFun Electronics)](https://www.sparkfun.com/products/12580)
