BME280 vs. BME280 Qwiic

Hello,

I am very new to the hacking/iot scene so please pardon my ignorance in this question.

For the project I have in mind, I am trying to decide between the BME280 and BME280 Qwiic sensors to measure air quality. The two seem similar in capabiity, but I wasn’t able to decide which one might be a better way to go for someone like me who is a total newbie. I tried searching the forum for “BME280 vs BME280 Qwiic” but didn’t find any posts that compare the two, so thought I would ask.

If you could help me make a decision, or point me to some info/tutorial that would help me understand, that would be terrific.

Thanks!

Hi ST4!

Both are essentially the exact same board but [SEN-13676 lacks a Qwiic connector and has a few extra pads. If you’re looking for the easiest one to use, I’d go with the [SEN-15440 Qwiic version since you can just plug it directly into a Qwiic enabled microcontroller like the [RedBoard Qwiic. No soldering required! :-)](SparkFun RedBoard Qwiic - DEV-15123 - SparkFun Electronics)](https://www.sparkfun.com/products/15440)](https://www.sparkfun.com/products/13676)

Hi Chris,

Thank you for the reply, as well as for pointing me to a micro-controller recommendation.
