BME690 will supercede BME688. Is there any possibility that a BME690 Development Kit is on the horizon? The Bosche BME690 offering (Shuttle Board and Application Board) is not a like-for-like replacement of the BME688 Development Kit and costs much more.
I’d guess it’s 50/50, but we don’t have any insider info…we’ve been carrying that line for a long time and we currently carry 3 versions of their BME, if we were to add the 690 I’d presume we’d try to phase one out…

Hi,
Thanks for your note. For the moment I will just wait and keep my fingers crossed.
BTW is it possible to commission a product from Sparkfun. I would obviously be incurring a much higher cost but it may be worthwhile to ger my hands on a BME690 Development Kit sooner rather than later.
Geoff
Not currently (except for LARGE orders); but you can order some here Gas sensor BME690 | Bosch Sensortec and then using the datasheet you could order some pre-fab PCBs from some place like jlcpcb and re-flow the sensors onto a board you’ve designed (it looks like i2c and SPI are available as communication protocols)
Hi,
I have just spoken with jtcpcb and they suggested: kindly ask Sparkfun for the gerber file, Bill of materials and the CPL file for the components in the board. This was in response to my enquiry about creating a BME690 version of the BME688 Development Kit.
Can you release these files to me, or pass them onto jctpcb on my behalf.
Geoff
It doesn’t look like sparkfun has those files. It would take an engineer somewhat considerable time to make a design then create the files needed to manufacture a board.
Unfortunately you would need to do the design first then send the files to jlpcb. Only then could the make the actual board for you.
Maybe Bosch could provide you a copy of their files for the older dev kit and you could modify them for the BME690?
I can’t speak for sparkfun but doubt they have the time and manpower to do a one off board for you. If you’re not able to design it on your own you might find an EE freelancer that can do it for you.
I don’t see there being enough demand for something like this for SFE to put the money and effort required to make it.
Hi,
I am grateful for your comments and will follow up on your suggestion to contact Bosche Sensortec.
