Hi there,
I’ve been reading the data sheet for the FTDI 245RL and the schematic for the breakout board of the same. Specifically I have noticed that VCCIO appears to be connected to the 3.3V output pin from the FT245RL via SJ1. Although I am not familiar with that schematic symbol, silicon junction? Is this correct?
The data sheet notes that whatever voltage you connect to VCCIO is the voltage used by the chip for IO. So a two questions:
-
The data sheet notes that for 5V operation you need to connect the VCCIO pin to the same supply as VCC. Could I instead use the VUSB pad on the breakout board?
-
If I do the above, or use an external 5V supply do I need to disconnect VCCIO on the breakout board from SJ1?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
T.
