Broken GitHub link and missing MicroPython package for Qwiic STC31 (404 Error)

Hello SparkFun Support Team,

I am currently working with the SparkFun Qwiic CO2 Sensor - STC31 using an ESP32 (IoT RedBoard) running MicroPython.

I followed the official Hookup Guide under the “MicroPython Installation” section, which instructs users to install the library via mpremote: mpremote mip install github:sparkfun/qwiic_stcx_py

However, the installation fails with a “Package not found” error. Upon further investigation, the GitHub repository mentioned in the guide ([https://github.com/sparkfun/qwiic_stcx_py](https://github.com/sparkfun/qwiic_stcx_py) and [``https://github.com/sparkfun/qwiic_stc3x_py``](``https://github.com/sparkfun/qwiic_stc3x_py``)) returns a 404 Page Not Found error.

It appears the repository is either set to private, deleted, or has a typo in the documentation. Additionally, for the mip installation to work, the repository will need a properly configured package.json file.

Could you please look into this, fix the broken repository link, and ensure the MicroPython package is correctly formatted for mip?

Thank you for your time and assistance!

Good catch — flagging it here was the right move since the 404 is on SparkFun’s side. Hopefully the team can fix the repo link or get the package published properly. In the meantime, qwiic_stc3x_py does look like a typo in the guide, so I’d hold off on workarounds until they confirm the right repo. Hang tight, the support folks are usually quick with these.

Thanks for pointing this out; we’re working on it now…hang tight while we get it going

Should be good now! GitHub - sparkfun/qwiic_stc3x_py · GitHub

Hi TS-Russell,

Thank you for the quick update and for fixing the repo link! The mpremote mip install command runs successfully now.

However, there is a new issue with the package configuration. When I run the code and call sensor = qwiic_stc3x.QwiicSTC3X(), I get the following error: AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'QwiicSTC3X'

I noticed during the mip install process that the terminal output showed it was installing /lib/qwiic_template.py instead of the actual STC31 sensor code. It seems that the package.json file in the repository is currently pointing to the boilerplate template files rather than the correct qwiic_stc3x.py file containing the class.

Could you please update the package.json to point to the correct source files so the module imports properly?

Thanks again for your help!

Darn! Thanks for pointing that out too - unfortunately the engineer is out until Wednesday so it’ll likely be a few days before getting fixed but we’re on it
