I am trying this myself right now, using the sparkfun BTM-182 breakout board. I connected its VCC to 3.3V, GND to GND, reset to VCC through 10k R (not sure that’s absolutely necessary). It became automatically discoverable (named “Serial Adaptor”) and I paired my HTC EVO 4G with it (PIN 1234).
Now I’m trying to interface it serially to a 5V AVR. I added a resistor divider to drop 5V down to about 3V in the AVR TX ->BTM RX direction.
The BTM → AVR direction reads ~1.43V and so I’m assuming it isn’t working. I saw a post from somebody else reporting this problem but
I am not sure what is causing it yet. Hopefully it’s not by design due to a ~1.5V IC on the module, 1.5V is way below Vih for a 5V AVR.
I was expecting a 3.3V drive from the BTM.
HTH. If you find out anything else about this module let me know!
