Can I use the Tsunami Super WAV 'playing' breakout pin to drive a status LED?

Hello,

I’m building a Tsunami Super WAV Trigger into an enclosure to be used for an art installation. It will be playing on a continuous loop for days and I expect it will just do its job most of the time. But I’d like others to be able to stop and start it if necessary.

I would like to add some status indicators on the outside of the enclosure. I don’t believe there are any breakout pins for the status LED and I’m not prepared to or skilled enough to use the surface mount pads to achieve this.

As an alternative, I see that there is a ‘playing’ breakout pin which I believe sends a high (3.3V) signal when the device is playing.

Is this pin able to drive an LED (20mA)?

And, of course, if there are breakout pins for the status LED that I’m just not aware of, I’d be excited to know about it.

Thank you,

Michael

Please check this schematic. https://cdn.sparkfun.com/assets/5/4/2/6 … _Qwiic.pdf

It says “Status LED Blue on while files are playing”.

Thanks, but what you’re referring to is the onboard LED (three-color) which does not have breakout pins as far as I know.

The “Playing” pin is just a GPIO configured as an output and should be capable of driving 20 mA. You just need to make sure you include the current limiting resistor in series with the LED.

That’s great news, thank you for your help.
