Can you cut / shear thru vias?

I have a small project in mind (ROM upgrade for ancient computers) which requires retro-fitting newer Flash Roms into older (and generally no longer existant) ROM caddies for computers like the Tandy Model 100/102/200 and others. The easiest way to do this is to set a bank of vias, then shear thru the middle of the vias, leaving the barrels as the contact to the older “caddy” contacts/pins.

With your service, is this possible?

Thanks,

Ahh - I think so. I think I understand your question.

We’ve had a few customers who have a DIP type layout (8 pins on one side, 8 on the other for example). Then they set the PCB border down the mid-point of these vias. That way, when the board is finished, it has half-vias on either edge of the PCB. Makes it really easy to create SMD modules this way.

Hope this helps,
