Cannot upload any sketches to RedBoard Artemis

I just bought a RedBoard Artemis and I cannot upload any sketches to it. Whenever I try, I get this error: “avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 1 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x00”.

I have tried two different computers and three different USB cables. In addition, the serial loopback test works. While there is power (either via USB power or via a barrel connector), the power light does show, and LED13 does blink.

Is it possible that the bootloader is trashed even though LED13 is blinking?

Quick question. What board do you have selected if you go to “Tools->Board:”?

Arduino Uno.

I bought a second board, in case someone this one was damaged. Same thing.

There must be some other step that I need to take that’s not documented anywhere. Either that, or I got two Redboards from the same bad batch.

follow the setup for software : https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/ar … rduino-ide.

The Arduino Uno should not be used for the Artemis Redboard

That web page didn’t tell me anything. However, I did finally hear back from tech support, and they pointed me to this page which actually was helpful: https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/ar … stallation

I don’t know why I couldn’t find this page myself. I see now that there’s a link to it from the Artemis product page, so I don’t know how I missed it.

In addition, I had to update the bootloader. I don’t know why both of my brand-new Artemis boards came with an outdated bootloader, but they did. That information is definitely not documented anywhere.

Anyway, after all that, the boards work now.
