Can't connect to WiFly shield via browser

Hello,

I am doing the “WiFly Shield Hookup Guide” tutorial,

and I am stuck in the “Communicating with the Network” step,

everything works fine untill issuing the “http://” command,

I get this error message in the browser window
Capture.PNG.

this error message I recieved on chrome, but

This one I got on FireFox as well

.

so no matter what browser I use, still I cannot reach to the WiFly shield.

By the way, I can ping the shield from my computer, but no ping replay from the shield when I ping my computer,

although I can ping the accesspoint from the shield, also can ping the shield IP its self, but not the loop-back (I get error when I ping 127.0.0.1).

any kind of help is really appreciated,

Thanks in advance,

Hi student2019,

You may need to upgrade the firmware on your WiFly module but before you get to that point, I have a couple of quick suggestions that might help you get the WiFly module communicating with your network. First, have you set a static IP for your WiFly module or is it assigned one via DHCP? If you have not assigned a static IP, double check you are trying to connect to the correct IP address by sending the “get ip” command while the WiFly is in command mode. Also, make sure you are entering the correct IP address for the WiFly module in your web browser. Similarly, make sure you are connecting to port 80 since the WiFly defaults to listen on port 2000.

If you are still having issues, I would recommend upgrading the firmware. We outline the process in [this section of the Hookup Guide but there are more in-depth instructions on [Microchip’s Support page. You may need to restore the WiFly to factory settings prior to updating the firmware so if it does not work the first time, try sending the factory reset command and then retry.](Microchip Lightning Support)](https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/wifly-shield-hookup-guide/configuration-files-and-upgrading-the-firmware)
