I bought one of the new 5v arduino pros and I cant seem to get it working. When I hook up the power through usb or straight to a battery the power light comes on, but the led next to pin 13 starts to blink in a strange pattern. I cant successfully download any programs to it. Is this led blinking normal? I think I may have received a bad board, because I brought it into my teacher who is quite experienced with arduinos, and he thinks it is malfunctional… any ideas?

If you bought it at sparkfun, you may want to contact support. I’m not sure if anyone at sparkfun reads this forum or how often.
I don’t use the arduino much, so I’m not sure I can help you. Can you provide a link to the unit you bought(so I’m sure we’re talking about the right hardware)? What process did you follow when you tried to program it?
Otherwise, a search of the forum might yield some ideas. Programming problems seem to be common.
Actually I just got it to work last night. Turns out I was not resetting it the right way while programming. I had to hold the reset button, then push the upload button, then release the reset button and it worked.
