I’ve tried what I know about this thing and have spent a couple hours
looking through the forum all to no avail. Had a mega16 project working on a STK500 but wanted better debugging so got one of these OLIMEX jtag ICE’s. No problem hooking it up and am pretty sure it went through a firmware upgrade. AVR Studio goes through the jtag programming process ok, but it gives a “Could not connect to JTAG ICE” error when trying to start debugging. Also think that it is not actually changing the program.
Read about doing a manual AVRProg from AVR Studio, but get the error message “No supported board found, AVRprog ver 1.40”
The jtagice is connected directly to the target, and the jtag pins are not used for anything else. The ICE’s light flashes reasonably. My AVR Studio is the latest version.
If I try to do a firmware upgrade from AVR Studio, (only option is mkII) it says it is unable to contact it.
I’m confused as why it can contact the jtag for programming but not for debugging.
Any help would be appreciated.
