When I try to load a new sketch to an ESP8266 Thing via the SF FTDI , I get the message “esptool.FatalError: Failed to connect to ESP8266: Timed out waiting for packet header:”. I get this with the two Things I have tried, and I have experimented with different baud rates without success. Any suggestions will be appreciated. I can send the complete error dump if necessary.

Paul: I’m embarrassed to say I assumed power was supplied through the FTDI. When I reviewed the tutorial, I saw I needed “Thing” plugged in too. Works on the programs I have tried so far.
