I am merely an electrician, so please excuse my relative-to-me questions. How can a capacitor have a range of microfards on it? we have a 55 microfarad 370VAC run capacitor briefly in parallel with a 43-53 mf 250VAC start capacitor. Is that its way of saying 48 mf +/- 21% ?
You’re correct in your interpretation…they list ranges due to manufacturing tolerances and slight differences in the units. The start capacitor’s specification of 43-53 mf is indeed equivalent to saying it’s a nominal 48 mf capacitor with a tolerance of about ±10% (±10.4%, not 21)
Thank you for both the explanation and correction to the percent deviation, I appreciate both!
