Hey,
i’ve got some strange behaviour of the Charge LED on my ESP32 Thing Plus. I have a DC/DC-Converter to lower 12V down to 5V, and its output is connected to the VUSB pin of the Thing Plus. Everything seems working fine, but i am a little confused why the organge charge LED next to the USB-Port is constantly flickering. I just want to know wether this could be a hint for something going wrong in my circuits? An no, i don’t have any battery connected…
Thanks for you help!
Max
Oh, maybe i’ve selected the wrong Subforum, please move my question to the corresponding one, thanks!
Hi Max.
With no battery attached this is normal. The battery charger is monitoring voltage on the battery pins and since there’s no battery present, the voltage on those pins can oscillate a bit fooling the charger into thinking the “battery” needs charged.
The charger turns on briefly and the voltage goes up, then the charger thinks the battery is fully charged and shuts off and the voltage falls again causing the cycle to repeat. Won’t hurt anything but it makes the LED flicker.
Ah ok, thank you for your answer! Then i can leave it as is…
