circuit board help, trying to fix a food saver :-)

first off i love messing around with this stuff even though i know next to nothing about resistors, capacitors and stuff. I love trying to fix stuff. Our power went out, hooked up the generator and didnt realize it was on 240 volts. I got it switched in around 5 minutes. Lucky i only lost this food saver vac sealer and a LED bulb and two surge protectors. The food saver was off but it was making a noise like the motor was running slowly and smelled like an electrical issue of course. I looked the board over and the only thing i found was— see the attached photo . since the board had C3 next to this thing im guessing its a capacitor. There are two of these, the other appears to be ok. Should i replace both ? Could anyone tell me what to order to replace this. It’d be interesting to hear what happened to. Bet ill never forget to switch the power lever again !!!

My only advice is to call them up. They are really great to work with, mine has been going for 4+ years strong, my dad had one for 5+ years , upgraded it crapped out in 6 months he called and they gave him all sorts of discounts and bags etc because of it.

I think you’ll be lucky if that’s the only thing broken. Here’s a replacement: https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/ … 4-ND/56468

There is probably more damage than just a burned capacitor.

It maybe in a power line derived supply. Where a capacitor is used to limit the current in to the supply. With a few diodes, maybe a low value resistor, small coil and filter capacitors. I would check sealer for things like shorted or open diodes and damage filter capacitors. Before just replacing the blown capacitor in your photo.
