Circuit Designer

Hello,

We are looking for help with some simple circuit designs.

It would be super if we could get this done with lightweight components… ( i.e.,

no microcontroller )… instead use a 555 timer chip… or some other chip/ components/ method…?

For example… light up a series of LEDs one at a time… and produce other effects using a series of LEDs… like a wave effect, or light up in a wave and then flash, etc…

Also, we need the LEDs to light up at various time intervals… that can be adjusted to any time interval ( using a potentiometer to adjust the current/volts ) … e.g., one LED each ( 1 second, min, hr, day, week)… etc…

Thanks for your help!!

You should be able to do this with some simple logic chips.

Check the 4017 decade counter chip to start, that plus a bit of other glue logic and a 555 should be able to create the effect you’re looking for.

Forrest Mims had some books with circuits that did this sort of thing, you might check those.

Circuit designs can easily be done using EDA software. I would propose you first choose the EDA software of your choice then have a good knowledge on the electronic components and signal processing. With that you can easily design this circuit by yourself by just playing around with the EDA software components. i suggest you download Proteus or KiCAD EDA to help you out.

see the links for EDA and simple circuit example for a start;
