COM-10917 setup

I wanted to verify that I am connecting to the COM-10917 surface transducer correctly and that nothing is wrong with the setup.

I measured the impedance across the pads on the PCB portion of and got 4.5 ohms which is a bit different from what is listed on the features page.

I attempted to connect waveform generator with a 3 Vpp square wave signal at 400 Hz to the PCB leads but did not see any responses from the transducers. There were no signs of vibrations.

Speaker impedance is usually measured at 1000 Hz, though I’m not certain about these particular components.

You might need something with a little more ‘oomph’ than a waveform generator can output.

Try a 1 watt amplifier or a small stereo amp turned way down, those should be able to drive one of these.

I managed to get it working with the waveform generator using 4 Vpp and switching to a square wave. The sine pattern was not enough to get a noticeable response.
