Condensor mic array with AKG PT40 transmitter

Hi Folks,

I am trying to improve the sound I get from an microphone on an accordion. The original setup was an AKG C516 mic and a PT40 transmitter. However this one mic only really picked up the centre of the keyboard and was also really prone to feedback.

I have made an array of 5 small condenser mics which I have fitted inside the accordion. The sound is much more even and the feedback rejection is much better. All 5 mics are wired in parallel and are powered by a 9v battery.

My question is, can I now connect this mic array to the PT40 transmitter or will the additional 9 volts upset (or break) it.

The PT40 already provides a 1.5v output (AA battery) to any connected microphone via a mini xlr connector.

Any advice welcomed.

Cheers

Richard
