Hello, I am wanting to build HO scale 1:87 RC vehicles like trucks and equipment. Which very low RPM motor would you suggest for the drive? Secondly, I assume most low RPM motors are brushed and I will need to use a brushless servo for the steering. How do I control them outside of a dual ESC that can handle brushed and brushless? Is there such a thing?
Thank you for any help.
You can run 2 ESCs, though note their power should be isolated from one another. The good news is brushed versions are cheap
We sell a 0.5 RPM motor https://www.sparkfun.com/search/results?term=rpm along with some others
Thank you. So if I understand correctly, I will have a transmitter that will interface with a brushed and brushless ESC? Both will have to have the same type of voltage/amps I imagine? By brushed versions are cheap, do you mean the motor or ESC?
I also like the idea of getting my own transmitter/receiver set so I can customize but I saw that they have a high rate of interference? that is not ideal since I will be running multiple RC’s at one time. Am I wrong? Do you have “stupid people” version instructions on how that would be assembled if I bought your trans/receiver set?
I figured out the ESC motor questions, apologies there, I was over thinking it.
I would still like to hear on any info you have for the trans/receiver sets and how to set them up and if they will have issues with multiple sets in the same operating area. Thank you.
Any modern 2.4GHz RC transmitter receiver pair should work for you and the RC folks solved interference issues long ago. As far as setup, the manufacturers instructions should be sufficient for getting up and running.
You might try asking for assistance on a forum dedicated to RC, you will get better help there than at a general electronics forum like this one. Google will help you find a more appropriate forum that’s RC specific.
I think your biggest issue is going to be finding components small enough to fit in HO scale trucks. It would be a challenge to fit everything into a HO scale train but cars/trucks are even smaller.
Thanks for the help and direction. I hope to source the parts and then develop a custom model to make it work. I can 3d model and print it so hopefully can make it work
