Creating an Autonomous Vehicle

Hi, all!

So I’ve been using arduino and AVR microcontrollers for some time now and I would like to take my projects to the next level. I want to build an autonomous (small (land)) vehicle capable of moving at a maximum speed of maybe 20mph.

I was just wondering if this was at all possible or if that kind of speed is much too fast. If any of you have pointers to what kind of motors I might need or better yet a more specialized site where I can learn this stuff, I’d appreciate it a lot. I’m super excited to get started!

Thanks!

Best to start out with slow moving vehicles, as things almost always go wrong.

This site is a good place to start: http://diydrones.com/

Oh, no. I’m sorry! I didn’t specify this would be like a buggy. It’s a car. No bigger than a regular RC car, and preferably built upon a chassis for one of them.

I’m just wondering if there’s an online community somewhere I can start digging around for knowledge.

What’s wrong with the link jremington provided?

if you dig into it a little you get to the rover (RC car based)
